This visa route allows eligible family members of Points-Based System (PBS) migrants to live in the UK. It applies to spouses, civil partners, unmarried or same-sex partners, and dependent children under 18. It enables them to join or remain with the main applicant during their stay in the UK.
To be eligible for a UK Fiance(e) Visa, you must meet several criteria
To apply as a partner, you must show:
You are at least 18 years old.
You are legally married, in a civil partnership, or have lived with the PBS migrant in a relationship similar to marriage for at least two years.
Your relationship is genuine, ongoing, and you intend to live together.
You do not plan to remain in the UK beyond the main visa holder’s stay.
You meet the financial maintenance requirement (unless your partner is a Tier 1 Investor).
You were not last granted leave in the UK as a visitor or on a short-term basis.
If required, you provide a police clearance certificate for countries you've lived in for 12+ months over the last 10 years (applies to some applicants over 18).
To qualify, a child must:
Be under 18 (or previously granted PBS Dependant leave if over 18).
Be a child of the PBS migrant or someone who has ILR or British citizenship after being a PBS migrant.
Not be married or living independently.
Usually have both parents in the UK or applying at the same time, unless exceptions apply (e.g., sole responsibility or compelling reasons).
Meet financial maintenance requirements unless exempt.
Dependants typically receive permission to stay in line with the main visa holder.
If the PBS migrant has obtained Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), dependants may be granted up to 3 years of leave, with the option to extend.
For ILR applications, partners must not have spent more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12-month period.
Adult children or extended relatives (like parents or grandparents) cannot apply under this route.
