Business Immigration
Pre-Settled Status is for individuals who were residing in the UK by the end of 2020 but had not yet completed 5 years of continuous residence.
he Scale-up Worker visa provides a pathway for talented individuals to work for fast-growing UK businesses that meet specific growth criteria. This visa is designed to help innovative and expanding companies recruit highly skilled workers to support their development and success.
The Scale-up visa is a special route under the UK immigration system that allows dynamic UK businesses experiencing rapid growth to sponsor skilled international workers.
This visa combines features of traditional sponsored visas with elements of unsponsored employment, giving successful applicants the freedom to change employers after an initial sponsorship period.
Like other work routes, dependants—such as partners and children—can apply to join or stay with the primary visa holder.
Job Offer
You must have a confirmed job offer from a UK business approved to sponsor Scale-up workers.
The role must meet the required skill level (RQF Level 6 or above, equivalent to graduate level).
The job must be genuine and not a sham arrangement.
Salary Threshold
£36,300 annually, or
£10.75 per hour, or
The "going rate" for the job—whichever is higher.
English Language Requirement
You must demonstrate proficiency in English to CEFR Level B1 across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
This can be shown through an approved English test, nationality, or a degree taught in English.
Valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
Your sponsoring employer must issue a Certificate of Sponsorship, valid for 3 months from the issue date.
The certificate confirms details of your role, employer, and salary.
Applicants must show that they can support themselves upon arrival unless their employer agrees to cover these costs.
You must have at least £1,270 available, held in your bank account for 28 consecutive days.
Alternatively, your sponsor can certify maintenance on your CoS.
The initial visa is granted for 2 years.
The first 6 months of employment must be with the sponsoring scale-up company.
After this, visa holders may switch jobs without sponsorship requirements.
Visa holders can extend their stay for an additional 3 years and may later become eligible to apply for Settlement subject to meeting residence and income criteria.
You may apply to switch into the Scale-up route from within the UK if you are not currently in a visa category that prohibits switching (such as Visitor or Short-term Student).
Your partner and dependent children can apply to join or stay with you in the UK. They must meet eligibility and financial requirements and can work or study during their stay.
Flexible employment: After 6 months, you may change jobs without a new sponsor.
Pathway to settlement: This route can lead to ILR after 5 years.
Work-life integration: Dependants can work or study, and you're not tied to one employer beyond the initial period.
