This visa is temporary, does not lead to settlement, and is intended to support religious institutions in meeting short-term staffing needs.
This visa category allows religious organisations in the UK to sponsor non-UK nationals to perform religious activities such as preaching, pastoral work, or other specified religious functions.
The visa permits employment in the UK for up to 12 months in roles directly connected to religious work.
Applicants must be sponsored by a UK-based religious organisation licensed to employ Temporary Religious Workers. The sponsor must provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) confirming the details of the role and the terms of employment. Permitted roles typically include:
Ministers of religion.
Religious instructors.
Missionaries.
Other faith-based duties recognised by the Home Office.
To qualify for this visa, applicants must meet the following:
Have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed religious organisation in the UK.

Meet the minimum salary or stipend requirements applicable to the role.
Demonstrate sufficient maintenance funds or have their sponsor certify maintenance.

Applicants must prove they can support themselves financially during their stay in the UK by either:
Providing evidence of personal savings of at least £1,270 held for 28 consecutive days before applying.
Having their sponsor confirm maintenance support on the Certificate of Sponsorship..
